Veronica Hanrahan

March 27, 1937 - May 31, 2016

Veronica Hanrahan,79, of New London, died on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in the comfort of her home and loving family.

The daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Mitchell, she was born in Norwich, March 27, 1937. Mrs. Hanrahan was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and Eastern Connecticut State University. First employed at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital emergency department, she later became the director of nursing at Pequot Treatment Center of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and retired in 2007.

She is survived by her six children, James Hanrahan of New London, Patricia Hanrahan of Windsor, Michael Hanrahan of Falmouth, Maine, Kevin Hanrahan of New London, Thomas Hanrahan of Portland, Oregon, and Catherine Hanrahan of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Rose Mullen of Fairhaven, Mass., Kathleen Caughey of Utica, N.Y., Eileen Mitchell of New York City; and ten grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Hanrahan; and two siblings, Peter Mitchell and Patricia Benson.

All funeral services are private and will be arranged at a later date.

The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with her care.
