Sarah Salamanca

SALAMANCA: Sarah Salamanca, 100, of New London entered eternal life on Oct. 31, 2016 in the comfort of her loving daughter. She was born Aug. 15, 1916 in Pawcatuck, Ct the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Maura (Bonomo) Drago. She was united in marriage to Richard “Sal” Salamanca on June 12, 1937 in St. Michael Church, Pawcatuck. Mr. Salamanca died April 7, 1996. Sarah was an accomplished seamstress and worked for the former Tunxis Jacket Co. in New London. She loved cooking for her family and friends, and was a long time communicant of St. Joseph Parish. She was a member of the New London Senior Center, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Loyal Order of Moose and enjoyed volunteering at the Garde Arts Center. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law; Joanna and James Stewart of East Lyme. The joy of her life grandchildren; James and wife Samantha Stewart of Niantic. Diane Stewart and her fiancée Boron Cakin of Istanbul, Turkey. Two siblings; Morris Drago and Winifred Colosi both of Pawcatuck. She was predeceased by four siblings; Winnie Colosi, Anthony, Joseph and Angelo Drago. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 83 Montauk Ave. New London. The funeral will assemble on Monday at 9 am and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck, CT. Sarah family would like to thank her Beechwood family who gave her many happy times over the past six yrs. Special thanks to Debbie and the staff.
