RASI:  Ronald Tauno Rasi, 82 of Quaker Hill, entered eternal life on May 4, 2019.  He was born Oct. 12, 1936 in Gardner, MA the son of the late Tauno and Laura Rasi.  He graduated from Nashua High School in NH and enlisted in the US Navy from 1954 50 1958 near the end of the Korean War.  Receiving the GI Bill, it paid for his education at Lowell Technological Institute, now University of Mass-Lowell.  Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Ronald went to work at the US Navy Underwater Sound Laboratory in New London, CT in 1963.  He was a group leader in marine optics.  He received the “Submarine Electromagnetic”, including many performance awards.  In addition he received a US Patent Award as inventor of a “Remote Control Sonar Beam Steerer”.  In 2002 he was appointed a member of the State Legislature to the new Camp Harkness Advisory Council (C.H.A.C.) up to this point in time, he has been a member of the C.H.A.C. He also served two years as a member of the Waterford RTM.  While he was in college, he meet the love of his life, Helen Szczypinski. They were united in marriage, on June 13, 1964 in Holy Trinity Church in Lowell, MA. Besides his wife, Helen Rasi, two daughters survive him.  Kristen Rasi and husband Frank Wilson of New London, and Sonya Dulong and husband Benjamin of MA., and a granddaughter, Helena Dulong.  Ron was predeceased by a daughter, Erika Joy Rasi. Ron enjoyed many summers at their seasonal ocean side in Salmon River, Nova Scotia and their lakeside Highland Lake in NH with his family.  He also enjoyed swimming, kayaking, camping and hiking.  Ron was blessed to be with his wife Helen on their travels to Hawaii, Bermuda, Virgin Islands, Canada, Germany, Poland, Hungry, Czech Republic, and France. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm followed by a prayer service at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave.  New London, CT.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Camp Harkness Fund, 302 Great Neck Rd.
