MAYNARD: Robert C. Maynard, 88 of Waterford entered eternal life on Dec. 31, 2016. He was born March 14, 1928 in New London, the son of the late Henry and Agnes (Kennedy) Maynard. He attended New London schools including the former Chapman Technical High School. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a WW II veteran. He was united in marriage to the former Rosalie Celentano on Nov. 7, 1959 at St. Francis Church in New Haven. Mrs. Maynard predeceased him. Bob apprenticed with Floyd Giordano to learn the art of monument making. In 1955, he built the Waterford Monumental Works on Boston Post Rd, Waterford. He designed lasting memorials in the area for 55 years. Bob was also the superintendant of the Jordan Mutual Cemetery for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Seaside Council #17, a volunteer for the Jordan Fire Dept, and the Waterford Babe Ruth League. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and past President of the MITRE Society of New London, where he met his beloved Rosalie. Bob was well known for his kind heart and sense of humor. He is survived by his four children: Marie Maynard of Waterford, Joseph and wife Kimberly Maynard of Glastonbury, Suzanne Bouchard with whom he made his home, Stephen and wife Stacey Maynard of New London, and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Judith Rose Maynard and two brothers, Harry and James Maynard. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. A funeral home service will be on Wednesday at 11 am. Interment to follow in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford.
