CARROLL: Richard H. Carroll of Waterford died on Monday, March 28, 2016, after battling a long illness. He was 72.

The beloved husband of Sheryl (Duzant) Carroll, they were united in marriage on Oct. 9, 1976 in New London. Richard was a retiree from Electric Boat, where he worked as an industrial radiographer.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl; his stepdaughter, Jocelyn Curiel of St. Martin; his daughter, Kara Thorndike of Maryland; his stepson, Brandon Curiel of Middletown; and four grandchildren, Allegra, Benjamin, Maya and Henry. He is preceded in death by his devoted dog, Sam.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday at 2 pm in St. Mary Cemetery, 600 Jefferson Avenue, New London, where he will be interred with Sam’s ashes. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to the ASPCA at www.ascpa.org. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home in New London has been entrusted with his care.
