SAWICKI: Nancy Sawicki, 99 formerly of Cutler St. New London entered eternal life on July 6, 2017. She was born Sept. 26, 1917 in New London the daughter of the late Pasquale and Paulina (Macocione) DiMaggio, emigrants from Tusa Italy. She was united in marriage to Zigmund Sawicki, on May 11, 1940 in New London. Mr. Sawicki died Sept. 19, 1982. Nancy loved cooking, crocheting, knitting, sewing and ceramics. She often sat on her front porch and kindly greeted visitors and passersby. She loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. She never turned away family in need, and no one ever went hungry in her presence. Her legacy of unconditional love, generosity, and dedication to family survives in the heats of our family. She is survived by two children, Shirley Kuhl and husband Joseph Deveau. Frank Sawicki, Sr. and partner, Julie Stone. Three sisters, Rose Matzdorff, Grace O’Donnell and Josephine Maloney. Three grandchildren, Loni Brockett, Frank Sawicki, Jr. and wife Tracy, Lisa Tetreault and husband James. Great grandson, Zigmund Ozea and husband Todd Thompson, nephew, Paul Sawicki and wife and Bernice, and many other nieces and nephews. She was, predeceased by a brother and sister in-law, Patsy and Vivian May. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 6pm to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. Family and friends, are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St. New London. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
