Michael J. Kirchner

KIRCHNER: Michael Joseph Kirchner, 43 of Plainfield, went home to be with our Lord on Oct. 21, 2016. He was born Sept. 12, 1973 in Norwich the son of Joseph Kirchner of Plainfield and the late Shirley (Petrowski) Kirchner. Michael was a graduate of St. Bernard High School, class of 1991 and later graduated from Three Rivers Community College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was united in marriage to the former Judy Haynes on Sept. 30, 2000 at Ocean Beach. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and would, without hesitation, go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. Mrs. Kirchner survives him. Michael was a dedicated and respected employee at NRG Montville Station for 22 years, as a plant tester for the Laboratory program where he served on many committees, was loved and will be missed by all of his co-workers. Michael enjoyed the outdoors splitting wood, hiking Bear Mountain, and playing paint ball games with family and friends. Besides his beloved and devoted wife Judy, and three sons, Dylan Kirchner of Norwich, Justin Kirchner of Plainfield and Liam Kirchner at home, Michael is survived by his father, Joseph Kirchner of Plainfield, his stepmother, Bobbie Kirchner, two siblings, Joseph Kirchner of Preston and Heidi Kirchner of Norwich, and a grandson, Weston. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Cummings Gagne Funeral Home, 122 Cliff St. Norwich. A graveside service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 6:00 pm at Christian Fellowship Church, 140 Pudding Hill Rd, Scotland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Comprehensive Cancer Center, 593 Eddy Street, Providence, RI.
