NENNA: Mary Louise Nenna, 74 of New London, entered eternal life on Dec. 28, 2016 in the comfort of her two loving sons.  She was born May 23, 1942 in New London the daughter of the late Jesse and Helene (White) Long, Sr.   She attended local schools and graduated from New London High School, class of 1960.  She was united in marriage to Robert Nenna, Sr. on Oct. 5, 1963 in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Bob recently passed on April 18, 2016.  Mary was employed for the New London Board of Education for 20 years, retiring in 2004.

She is survived by two sons and their spouses; Robert and Joy Nenna, Jr. of Newington, Edward and Heather Nenna of Uncasville.  Four adoring grandchildren; Abigail, Jack, Joseph and Jake. Two brothers; Robert Long of FL and William Long of East Lyme.  Just like her mother Helene,  Mary was unfailingly considerate and helpful.  Her door was always open to everyone.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring and nurturing mom and grandmother, and a true friend to those who knew her.  Watching her play school or reading a book to her grandchildren will be one of many cherished moments.

She was predeceased by five siblings; Edward, Daniel, Richard, Jesse Long, Jr. and Patricia Turner.  Family and friends are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 11 am from St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St. New London.  Interment in St. Mary Cemetery is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA)416 Lincoln Ave 2nd Floor, Pittsburgh, PA. 15209  or Beechwood Rehab & Nursing Center, 31 Vauxhall St. New London, CT 06320.  Bob and Ed are forever grateful to Dr. Ingrid Feder and all of the staff at Beechwood for the wonderful care their mother received.  Also, a special thank you to her dearest friend Maureen who never left her side and was always there for her.
