HUTCHISON: Marie C. Hutchison, of Quaker Hill, entered eternal life on Feb. 5, 2017. She was born Aug. 20, 1943 in New London the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Cassata) Piscitello. Marie was known as “The Paint Lady” starting out working for Pittsburgh Paints and later at D & M Paint Center in Waterford. She retired from Johnson Hardware in Groton where she managed the paint dept. due to her struggle with heart condition for 30 years. At times, Marie seemed gruff, but it was just a self defense mechanism, as she was very sensitive, but loved her customers and always had a smile from them. She is survived by two children; Ann Dessaint of Ledyard and James Matthew Hutchison of Quaker Hill. Two grandchildren, Blaise and Jade Dessaint. A sister and brother in-law; Vivian and victor Straub of Salem. Her best friend Carol Hunter of Groton. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Richard Piscitello. Family and friends are, asked to gather for a memorial Mass of Christian. On Friday at 10 am, in St. Joseph Church in New London. Interment will follow in Salem Green Cemetery in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to St. jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London, has been entrusted with her care.
