DiMAGGIO: Lena DiMaggio, 94 of New London entered eternal life on Oct. 7, 2016. She was born Sept. 15, 1922 in New London the Daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rose (Piscatello) DiMaggio. She graduated from the former Williams Memorial Institute, class of 1941. Lena, was employed at Electric Boat for 24 year as a micro- film operator, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish and served as president of the Catholic Women’s Society. She was a member of the Dante Alighieri Society, a trustee of the former Son’s of Italy, Friends of New London Public Library, committee member of the former Festival Italiano. Lena was an active volunteer in the New London community, volunteering in the L&M Auxiliary, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She is, survived by several cousins. She was, predeceased by a brother Frank J. DiMaggio. Lena’s family wishes to thank Beechwood Rehab. for the great care and compassion shown to her. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4 to 6 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Family and friends are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, corner of Montauk and Squire St. New London. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery. Donations in her memory to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, 17 Squire St. New London.
