Frank “Buddy” Duchaine III, 77, of Ledyard, entered eternal life on Monday, May 16, 2016.

He was born June 8, 1938, in Fall River, Mass., the son of the late Frank and Rita (Ste. Michelle) Duchaine II. Mr. Duchaine served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage, to the former Claudette Guay, on Feb. 24, 1979, in Fall River. His wife Claudette survives him.

He worked as a jeweler for Mell’s Jewelry Store in Fall River for 35 years, retiring in 1999 and moving to Ledyard in 2006. He was a gifted musician, playing the piano, guitar and the accordion. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Carl Duchaine of Massachusetts; three stepchildren, Michael Guay of Waterford, Laurie Lavoie of Ledyard and Kevin Guay of New Hampshire; two siblings, Thomas Briggs of Arkansas and Blanche Johnson of South Carolina; as well as seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are asked to gather at 10 a.m. Saturday for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1650 Rt 12, Gales Ferry, followed by military honors. Interment is private.
