LABASI: Eileen “MEMA” Margaret Labasi, 89 formerly of New London entered eternal life on Dec. 23, 2016 in the comfort of her loving family.  She was born April 9, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY.  The daughter of the late John and Helen (Mallon) Park, and the eldest of ten children. She was united in marriage to, Augustave Labasi on June 17, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY and later moving to New London. Mr. Labasi died Dec. 19, 2004.  Mrs. Labasi, was employed by the Civil Service as a supervisor for Supervisor of Ship Building Groton, retiring in 1989.  She was an voracious reader, spending countless hours at the Waterford Public Library.  After her retirement, she watched over her grandchildren and took part in many of their activities. She was an avid gardener at home with flowers through out her yard and grew a grapefruit tree in her home, which she decorated for all the holidays.  She is survived by five children; Augustave (Constance) Labasi, Jr. of Uncasville, Edward  (Debbie) Labasi of Preston, Valerie (James) Cordock of Indiantown, FL, Teresa Hamilton (Michael Chance) of Waterford and Veronica (Allan) Garey of Griswold.  Four siblings; Ronald, Robert, James Park and  Mary Clarke. Seven grandchildren; Jeffrey (Mary) Labasi, James and Daniel Cordock, Andrew and Amanda Hamilton, Angelina Labasi  (Michael Musngi), Benjamin (Michelle) Garey.  Four great grandchildren; Natalie, Derek, and Audrey Labasi, Lacey Musngi. She was predeceased by five siblings; Jackie, Roderick, Douglas, Martin Park and Dorothy Memento. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Impellitter-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London.  The funeral will assemble on Thursday at 9 am and proceed to Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church.  Interment to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. Donations in her memory to Waterford Public Library, 49 Rope Ferry Rd. Waterford, CT 06385.
