William J. Scacciaferro, 72, of Waterford, entered eternal life on June 12, 2016, in the company of his loving family.

He was born March 17, 1944, in New London, the son of the late Mariano and Nellie (Meteski) Scacciaferro. He attended local schools and graduated from New London High School, Class of 1964.

He was united is marriage to the former Catherine Paul on Aug. 13, 1966, in St. Joseph Church; Mrs. Scacciaferro survives him.

Mr. Scacciaferro was employed at Northeast Utilities as a pipefitter, retiring after 26 years.

He was a member of the New London Lodge of Elks #360 and was a volunteer fireman for the former Niagara Fire Department.

Besides his beloved wife Catherine of nearly 50 years, he is survived by three children, Scott Scacciaferro and wife, Fernanda, of Florida, Jeaninne Scacciaferro and husband, Craig Barrila, of New London and Jason Scacciaferro of Wisconsin; a grandson, Thomas Messer; and a sister, Jeanette Pinch of Florida.

He was predeceased by two siblings, Thomas and Anna Scacciaferro.

Relatives and friends are asked to gather at 10 a.m. on Thursday for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 17 Squire St., New London. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Donations in his memory may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
