GIUSTINI: William Giustini 93 of New London passed away at Beechwood Rehabilitation Nursing Center on Jan. 8, 2016. He was born in New London on Aug. 14, 1922 the son of the late Renato and Nerina (Cocchi) Giustini. He graduated from the former Bulkeley School in 1941 and was a member of the Bulkeley Alumni Association. He married Lena Amelia Severini Giustini on Feb. 12, 1944 who predeceased him, July of 1944. He was a veteran of WW II and served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Shangri-LA as an aviation serviceman. He was a volunteer member of the former Ockford Fire house. He worked several jobs including construction, US Post Office and Robinson Paper Box where he retired. He was a proud member of the Italian Dramatic Club and loved talking about growing up at Fort Trumbull. He was a sports fan and enjoyed socializing at the Birdseye Café’ and the Monkey Fram Café’ where he and his son watched football on Sundays for many years. Bill also enjoyed working in his beautiful vegetable garden with help from his friends Larry Keating, Jack Harkin and Ron Mandac. He enjoyed swimming the length of Ocean Beach through his later years. He and his wife Lena enjoyed dancing and were known to clear the floor. They also enjoyed traveling to Italy, Japan, Las Vegas and Aruba. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Bauer and husband Bill of Bainbridge Island, WA. Two sons, William Giustini and wife Judith of New London, James Giustini and wife Akemi of Nigata Japan. Ten grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his beloved brother Louis Gustini. Special thanks to Beechwood Rehabilitation Nursing Center employees and Center for Hospice Care for their dedication and caring. A graveside service will be open to all family and friends on Thursday Jan. 21, 2016 at 11 am in Cedar Grove Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St. Norwich, CT 06360. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London has been entrusted with his care.
