QUAKER HILL – Wanda Segleski , age 93 passed away peacefully at her home in Quaker Hill, CT on Oct. 29, 2019. She was born on September 13, 1926. She attended WMI and then went on to University of Connecticut where she completed a bachelors degree, majoring in accounting . Her first job was with an insurance company in New  York City. She then proceeded to working at Pfizer, where she retired after 38 years of service. She resided in the home that she built in 1956 in Quaker Hill, CT.  Her hobbies included gardening, tending her perennial gardens and birdwatching. Her love of animals and her interaction that she shared with them brought a smile to her face that was unforgettable. She also enjoyed taking walks and taking in nature.  Wanda was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Alice (Chmielewski) Szczyglewski where she grew up on Ashcraft Road in New London, CT. She is predeceased her brothers  Yonnick Segleski who was of Clarksville, TX,  Charles Stefan Segleski who was of Waterford, CT, and her sister,  Gladys Nichols who was of Boise, Idaho. She is survived by her neices, Barbara Manfrediz of Baja Mexico, Cheryl Segleski Cunningham and her husband Jack of Waterford,  Beverly Segleski  of Waterford, CT, nephews, Charles D. Segleski and his wife Ruby of Clarksville, TX,  Mike and Tena Segleski of Powderly, TX, and Bruce Segleski of Clarksville, TX and several great nieces and nephews. She also considered Cheryl Cone “an adopted niece” of Waterford, CT. Wanda was loved and will be missed. There will be a private burial service. We are grateful to all of her doctor’s, nurses, caregiver’s and the agencies that participated in her care. In lieu of flower’s donations may be made to Hospice of Center Care in her Memory.
