BAILEY: Walter H. Bailey, 91 of Waterford, entered eternal life on Feb. 7, 2017. He was born May 19, 1925 in New Port, RI the son of the late Henry and Agnes (Cavanaugh) Bailey. Moving to New London at an early age, he attended local schools and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School, class of 1944. He enlisted in the US Navy and was a WW II veteran. He married the love of his life the former Marian Michels on June 26, 1948 in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. After nearly 69 years of marriage, Mrs. Bailey survives him. Walter worked as a scientific photographer for the Underwater Sound Lab, retiring after 39 years in 1985. He was an avid bowler, bowling in ten pin and duck pin leagues. He was a communicant of St. Paul Church in Waterford. Besides his beloved wife he is survived by two sister in-laws. Rose Harman of Quaker Hill, Claire Vitanza of NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane Soule. Relatives and friends are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11 am in St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Rd. Waterford. Entombment to follow in, St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Rd. Waterford, CT 06385.
