TIMOTHY J. AHERN 1962 – 2018

COLCHESTER – Timothy J. Ahern, 56, of Colchester, died unexpectedly Friday, December 14, 2018, at home.

He was born in New London on October 14, 1962, the son of John and Rosemarie (Petrizzi) Ahern. Tim grew up in New London and attended St. Mary’s School. He played basketball and baseball with his childhood friends, many of whom he remained close to all his life. Tim graduated New London High School in 1980. Shortly after graduating, he joined the Laborers International Union of North America Local 547, where he was still an active member. He worked on many major construction projects, including Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods.

Tim married Heather Mislivets on November 12, 2013, in San Diego. He and his wife were constant companions, enjoying surfing, stand-up paddling, snowboarding and golf. They loved visiting southern California and adventuring to Costa Rica together. Their favorite pastime was riding motorcycles side-by-side. Tim was a proud and respected member of the Branded Ones motorcycle club. He will be greatly missed by his motorcycle club community, who take comfort in the thought that he is reunited with his neighbor, friend, co-worker and club brother, Ben Labonosky, who lost his life in a tragic accident last year.

Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Heather Mislivets-Ahern; his mother, Rosemarie (Petrizzi) Ahern of Waterford; two daughters, Jessica Garcia and her husband Esteban of East Lyme and Erika Ahern of Mystic; their mother, Sherrie Martin; his brother, John Ahern and his wife Deirdre Passero Ahern of Salem; his sister, Sue Ann Lewellen and her husband Jeff of Oakdale. Tim will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Diego and Paloma Garcia; nephews Vito Trento, Joseph Trento and Brian Ahern; and his niece, Colleen Ahern.

Tim was predeceased by his father, John C. Ahern.

Calling hours are Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 12 noon at St. Joseph Church, 149 Montauk Ave., New London. Burial will be private.

Donations in Tim’s memory may be sent to The Casey Feldman Foundation to end distracted driving at enddd.org.
