DeLillo: Teresa Anne DeLillo of Waterford died peacefully in the comfort of her home on June 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was 86. She was born on January 22, 1932 in Belvue, Kansas, the sixth of eight children of the late Eugene and Catherine (McNieve) Noonan. She was united in marriage to Michael J. DeLillo on August 25, 1956 in St. Mary’s Kansas. Mr. DeLillo died on August 31, 2009. Anne, as she was known to her close friends and family, graduated in 1954 from St. Mary’s College in Levenworth, Kansas, and thereafter received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Connecticut. She was an elementary school teacher in the Town of Waterford for over thirty years, teaching at both Great Neck and Southwest Elementary Schools. She was a communicant at St. Joseph Parish and St. Paul Parish. In her younger years she was an exceptional athlete who enjoyed playing softball and basketball. She was an avid reader throughout her life. In her later years, she devoted herself to helping raise and educate her grandchildren. She, and her late husband, always enjoyed spending time with their numerous close friends and family; traveling, laughing, and hosting parties, including their well-known Super Bowl parties. She is survived by her two children and their spouses; Thomas and Lynn DeLillo of Niantic, and Dena and Bruce Grant of Ledyard, her seven grandchildren; Christopher and Megan DeLillo, Brooke, Amanda, Heath, Ryan, and Jonathan Grant, and four great-grandchildren. A sister, Jean Sonday of Springfield, Missouri also survives her. She was predeceased by siblings John, Francis, Catherine, Mary-Margaret, Jeanette, and Agnes-Claire. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. Family and friends are to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 am in St. Joseph Church, New London. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery will be private.
