Stanley Lawrence Pinski, 92, veteran of World War II, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was born in Branford on January 17, 1924 to the late Joseph and Bertha Mihalek Pinski.

Stanley was a veteran of the Armed Forces serving as a corporal with the U.S. Army’s 854th “Spearheaders” Aviation Engineer Battalion. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. His unit participated in the Kwajalein, Guam and Okinawa campaigns.

After returning from the war he began working for Sargent & Co. In New Haven as a tool & die maker, retiring in 1989. He also held the position of “Chief Steward” for UE Local 243 for many years while employed at Sargent’s. Stanley was a long time member and officer of the Branford ELKS Lodge, B.P.O.E. 1939. He was a sports enthusiast, whether it was refereeing a football or basketball game, umpiring a baseball game, on a bowling alley or golf course, Stan found a way to be part of a game. When he wasn’t involved in a game of his own, you would find Stan watching his grandson’s, Yankees or UCONN women games. His other great love was gardening which he took great pride in being able to harvest his vegetables to share with his family.

He is survived by his daughter Doreen Bono and husband Robert of Waterford, daughter-in-law Roberta Pinski of Guilford, grandchildren of whom he was most proud, Lori and Greg Pinski, Michael, Robert, Jaclyn and Lisa Bono, two sisters, Stasia Sadowski and Jenny Sadowski of Branford; and a brother Eugene Pinski, of West Haven. He was predeceased by his wife Marion; son Larry; brothers Benjamin, Walter, Edward and Joseph; and sister Julia Stempick.

Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home is handling the arrangements, which will be private and interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
