Shirley Longo

LONGO: Shirley Longo, 88 of Waterford entered eternal life on Jan. 16, 2018 in the comfort of her own home. She was born Sept. 25, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Stanley and Muriel (Prather) Pasela. Shirley was the daughter of a career naval man, they moved to Groton where she graduated from Fitch Senior High School. She meet Frank Longo, Sr. and they were married on Oct. 2, 1948 in St. Joseph Church. Mr. Longo, Sr. died Dec. 20, 2016. Shirley was an EKG technician at L&M Hospital in cardiac care, worked at the former New London Convalescent Home were she volunteered in reciting the Rosary. She served as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts during the mid 70’s. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and gardening in her garden. Shirley is survived by three children; Frank Longo, Jr., Lisa Sylvia and Andrew Longo. Eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great- great grandson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Longo-Wiley and two siblings, Stanley Pasela, Jr. and Beverly Walton. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. The funeral will assemble on Monday at 9 am at the funeral home and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church. Interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
