PERRY: It is with sadness that my mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Sarah Ann “Sally” Perry of Waterford entered eternal life on Dec. 21, 2022. She was born Nov. 24, 1935 in New London the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Perchasky) Cardillo. Sally graduated from New London High School, class of 1954, went to beauty school in Hartford and was employed for 40 years in the area as a hairdresser, making many friends and was always quick to share all the funny stories that happened during those 40 years. She also worked as a hostess in her beloved father’s restaurant, the Golden Cup, and there the funny stories continued. Sally enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and was always the first one to crochet outfits and afghans for family and friends, especially when a new baby was born. She, along with her sister Janice, volunteered for many charities (Heart, Cancer) throughout her life, even both of them going to clown school to become clowns; she was known as “Pigtail Sally”. Sally was a fabulous cook and baker and had a wicked sense of humor, always finding humor even in the darkest of times. She was a diehard Elvis fan, collecting many items of Elvis memorabilia, and her wish came true when her sister Jan took the family to Memphis to visit Graceland. Sally is survived by her daughter Salynne (Watson) Slattery, son in-law Stephen, sister Janice Cardillo and husband Tim Kennedy, niece Tracey Brandle and husband Lee, their son Cody Brandle as well as her two precious grandchildren, Alexa Slattery and fiancé’ Cody Schlais, Dylan Joseph Slattery who she loved more than life itself. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, the Heart Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or any animal charity of the donor’s choice. Sevices will be private with a small gathering of family and friends. The Impellitteri-Malia funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with her care. Ma, you are free now, travel with the angels and say hi to Grampy and John for me. I love you.
