TACKLING: Robert A. Tackling, Sr. 78 of New London entered eternal life on Dec. 21, 2016. He was born March 7, 1938 in New London the son of the late Amede and Mary (Burnett) Tackling. He attended local schools and graduated from New London High School. He was united in marriage to the former Joan Defosses on April 28, 1956 in New London. Robert worked for the City of New London in the highway dept for many years, retiring in 2003. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan, of 60 years of marriage. A son, Ernest Tackling of New London. Two grandchildren, James and Ashley Tackling. Three siblings, John Tackling, Evelyn Ingalls and Mary Paul. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Tackling, Jr., two brothers; William and Amede Tackling. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday morning from 9 am to 11 am at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. Followed by a, graveside service in St. Mary Cemetery.
