Raymond Mercado

MERCADO: Raymond Mercado, 73 of New London entered eternal life on Oct. 18, 2016 in the comfort of his loving family. He was born Dec. 2, 1942 in Anasco, Puerto Rico the son of the late Antonio and Patria Mercado. He was united in marriage to the former Carol Butler on Dec. 18, 1963 in New London. Mr. Mercado was truck driver for 33 yrs and a member of the Teamster Union Local 677, retiring in 2003. He was a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, an head usher for many years. Ray was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Besides his beloved wife Carol of nearly 53 years and is survived by three sons. Gregory, Brian and Raymond Mercado. Five grandchildren, Jaime, Kelly, David, Diego, Casey and five great grandchildren. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the Impelklitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. Guest are asked to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St. New London. Interment is private.
