Ledyard – Philip E. Morris, 77, of Ledyard passed peacefully June 19, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 26, 1943, in York, Maine. He was the son of the late Philip Morris and Frances (Tracy) Perry, along with his late stepfather Raymond Perry.

He married Gloria Speranza-Johnson Morris June 11, 1977, and just recently celebrated their 44th anniversary. Phil grew up in Groton and graduated from Fitch Senior High School, class of 1961. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in the sub-service for nine years, during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged. He worked at IBM as a technician, retiring after over 30 years.

Philip’s first and forever career was his loving family. He and Gloria enjoyed raising their children and spending time with their grandchildren. Phil resided happily at Mystic Healthcare for the past two years. Many thanks to the nurses and CNAs that provided around the clock care, especially Angelina and Cathy.

He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria; five children, Philip Morris Jr., John Morris and wife Lisa, Daniel Johnson, Mary “Nikki” Johnson, Chris Morris and wife Tiffany; four siblings, Kenneth Morris, Michael Perry, Russell Perry and Raylene Rust; ten grandchildren, Melissa, Zach, Kyle, Samantha, Jillian, Luke, Ethan, Josh, Zane, and Abel; and one great-granddaughter, Sophie.
