GALERA: Peter Galera, 95, of Niantic entered eternal life on Jan. 16, 2019. He was born Dec. 25, 1923 in Sacramento, CA the son of the late Gabriel and Evelyn Galera. He was united in marriage, to the former Angela Barone on Nov. 19, 1949 in St. Joseph Church in New London. His beloved wife Angela Galera survives him. Mr. Galera, was a Navy veteran serving in WW II and the Korean War, retiring after 27 years of service. He later was employed as vice-president of Mystic Color Lab. Besides his wife of Angela of 69 years he is survived by a sister in-law, Eleanor Wilkes of Niantic, Nephews, Galen and Steven Wilkes, niece Laura W. Denison and husband Jeffery. Three great nieces, Sydney, Mariah and Vianna. Family and friends, are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday Jan. 23, 2019 at 11 am in St. Joseph Church. Interment to follow in, St. Mary Cemetery. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London has been entrusted with his care.
