NOSSEK: Patricia “Pat” Louise Nossek, of Waterford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2022. Born in Walton, Nova Scotia, on June 12, 1939, she was the daughter of Avis and James William Cochrane and moved to the United States as a girl settling with her family in New London, CT. She was married in 1957 to her devoted husband, John of nearly 65 years of marriage, who survives her.

Pat graduated from New London High School in 1957 where she was co-captain of the cheerleading squad both junior and senior years. Her cherished friendships from school lasted a lifetime and those who were fortunate enough to know Pat quickly learned that being her friend meant being a part of her family. Her sharp wit and warmth kept everyone close.

Pat most enjoyed her home and spending time with family and friends, although she was always up for a road trip or get-away at anyone’s suggestion. She will be remembered for her delicious baked goods such as her beloved mother’s thumb print cookies or double crusted lemon pie which was her husband’s favorite. She had fond memories of her time working in the Waterford schools as a “lunch lady” and later at the Village Card Shop in Niantic. More recently, Pat was very active as a member of the Emblem Club, Westbrook Elks Lodge, work which gave her much joy.

In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Isabel Nossek of New London, her daughter-in-law Carole Nossek of Stonington, and the absolute prides of her life, her grandchildren, Benjamin, Jeffrey, Paige and Michael. She was sadly pre-deceased by her oldest son Richard Nossek of Stonington.

Pat also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Donna Cochrane of Niantic, her sisters-in-law Valerie Kelly of Waterford and Lillian Nossek of Westport and many treasured nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and son, Pat was pre-deceased by her siblings George Cochrane, Joanna Wakeman, and Donna San Juan and her brothers-in-law Harry Nossek and James Kelly.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4pm to 6 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A memorial service to held on Monday at 11 am, at the funeral home, interment will be private.
