BUNKLEY: Nola T. Bunkley, 93 of Gales Ferry entered eternal life on Nov. 27, 2021. She was born Oct. 29, 1928 in New London the daughter of the late Albert and Marjorie (Lamb) Talmadge. She was married to Joseph Bunkley, Sr. on Sept. 28, 1968, who predeceased her on Sept. 30, 2011. Nola worked as a secretary first at the Thames Shipyard and later for Electric Boat, retiring after 30 years. She was a member of the former Second Congregational Church in New London. Nola is survived by two stepchildren, Joseph “Chip” Bunkley, Jr. of Waterford and Joyce Giacalone of Niantic; a niece, Patricia Balkau of Waterford; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, three great-nephews and nieces and six great-great-nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her infant son, and her sister, Betty L. Perkins. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, followed by entombment in St. Mary Cemetery New London. Her family will receive relatives and friends Saturday morning from 9 am to 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be directed to the Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375.
