Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Pedro, 90, of Uncasville, entered eternal life on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016.

He was born July 31, 1926, in New London, the son of the late Andrew and Rose (Soarkinen) Pedro. He attended local schools in New London and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Marion Krammer, on April 21, 1951, in Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Pedro died Sept. 12, 2005. Mr. Pedro worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk in Groton and New London retiring after many years. He was a communicant and active volunteer in St. John the Evan-gelist Church, Uncasville.

He is survived by five children, Nicholas “Nick” Pedro of Ledyard, Terri Ceil and Catherine Moulton both of Uncasville, Mary Mills of Nevada and Patricia Gruss of North Carolina. His eight grandchildren that he adored, Traci DesRosiers, Tara Ceil-Merz, Gary Ceil, Nicholas Pedro, Dawn Burns, and Katerina, Alex and Zachary Gruss; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by four siblings, John Pedro, Connie DeLaura, Katherine Supernant and Nancy Bonnano.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Friday, in St. John the Evangelist Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville. Interment with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
