Nancy Jean (Gay) Ziolkovski, 88, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2023.

Nancy was born on April 27, 1934 in New London to Sherman Gay, Sr. and Annie Krauth Gay and lived her whole life in Quaker Hill.

Nancy graduated from Chapman Technical High School, Class of 1952 and from Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing, Class of 1955. She worked for Lawrence & Memorial Hospital as a Head Nurse Supervisor, and two local doctors until starting her family. Even though retired, she still held an active Nursing License. She enjoyed sewing, painting and baking, saying later in life she had a PHD (projects half done).

Nancy married Richard Ziolkovski, Jr. on June 8, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in New London, CT. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June 2022 at a picnic with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nancy was an active member of her class reunion planning committee, active member of the Ladies Guild at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church holding several positions, active member of Catholic Nurses and active member of Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing Reunion Committee.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her five siblings, a niece and a nephew.

She is survived by her husband Richard, her five children Stephen, Kevin, Sherry, Traci and Brian and their spouses, eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and four great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, sister in law, brother in law and several other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family will greet people from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 63 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill, Ct. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Quaker Hill, CT.
