Marlene B. Rouisse, 77, of Waterford, passed away on Tuesday Feb. 16, 2016. She was born Sept. 20, 1938 in Cheverie, Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of the late Burton and Harriet (Spearing) Brown. With family Marlene moved to Waterford in 1950, graduating from New London High School, class of 1956. She obtained her US Citizenship and was united in marriage to Thomas Rouisse on August 10, 1957 in St. Matthias Church, East Lyme. In 1968 they owned and operated the former Rou’s Chevron Service Station in Waterford for 17 years selling the business in 1986. Shortly after Marlene was employed at the Town of Waterford Tax Office for 13 years, retiring in 2003. Marlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She made the people in her life her first priority. She was a wonderful cook and her family has many fond memories from the holiday celebrations she created. Tom and Marlene spent many winters in Ludlow, VT with a close circle of family and friends, sharing many laughs on the ski slopes and snowmobile trails as well as vacations across the US. She was a special person, generous and hard working. She will live forever in our hearts. In addition to her beloved husband Tom of 58 years Marlene is survived by two children and their spouses, Gary and Amy Rouisse of FL and Lynn Rouisse-Hudson and Mark Hudson of Waterford and grandchildren Zachary, Rebekah, Katherine and Jessica. She is also survived by her sister Carol Rouisse and brothers and their spouses Rodney and Dorothy, Courtland and Judy, and David and Cindy Brown. Marlene was predeceased by her brother Leroy Brown. Her family wishes to thank Bayview Health Care Center and staff, Dr. Melvin Yoselevsky, Dr. Anis Racy, and Dr. Justin Thoms for the wonderful care Marlene received. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday Feb. 21 from 3pm to 5 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London.
