COTTER: Margaret L. “Peggy” Cotter, 88 of Groton entered eternal life on Friday Nov. 28, 2015 in the comfort of her loving family. Peggy was born in Redding, PA on June 26, 1927 the daughter of the late Alberta DeHart Fidler. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Margaret and John Davis of Bozrah. Her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Andrea Davis both of Boulder, CO. A bother, Jay Ronald Fidler of Soulsbury, MD. Peggy was united in marriage to John F. Cotter, Sr. on Nov. 8, 1952 in St. Vincent Forever in New York City. They moved to CT in 1997 to be closer the there daughter and granddaughters. After 49 years of marriage Jack died in 2003. Peggy was a devote Roman Catholic and was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Quaker Hill. She was the parish secretary for the past fifteen years. Prior to moving to CT, Peggy was the parish secretary at St. Vincent’s Church in New Providence, NJ and Corpus Christi Church in Chatham, NJ. She loved to travel and visited Italy, France, Egypt, Ireland, The Netherlands, Hungary, Germany and Belgium. Peggy enjoyed gardening, volunteering and was always pleasant and smiling. A -kind and forgiving person, who always made time to lessen to family and others. Incredibly, Peggy continued working in service to others until she retired at age of 86 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by sons, John F. Cotter, Jr. and Kevin J. Cotter. The family wishes to thank all those who offered kind wishes; Dr. Elizabeth Allard, Father Richard Breton, Sister Michelle Sokol and the angels of Hospice. Family and friends are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11 am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Quaker Hill. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy’s memory to: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 63 Old Norwich, Rd. Quaker Hill, CT 06375 or Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St. Norwich, CT 06360.
