FERGIONE: Lucy Ann Fergione, 96, a life long resident of Waterford entered eternal life on Sept. 25, 2017 in the comfort of her home.  She was born April 28, 1921 in Waterford the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Carino) Capozza.  She attended Great Neck School and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School.  She was, united in marriage, to Anthony Fergione of New London on June 9, 1942 in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.  Mr. Fergione died, Sept. 3, 1988.  Mrs. Fergione was the Girl Scout Leader of Troop 16 in Waterford, taking her troop to the Girl Scout National Jamboree in Button Bay, VT in 1962. She was employed for many years at Garfield Belt. She was well known to family and friends for her hot pepper fried dough  sandwiches. Lucy is survived by two daughters and spouses; Sandra and Mac McGroarty of Canterbury, Ann and James Johnson of Waterford. Four siblings; Rocco and wife Carmela Capozza, Diamon Porlidis, Elizabeth Lutz and Joan Roselund.  A granddaughter, Shawn and husband Chris Douton. Two great granddaughters, Holly and Caroline Douton. She was predeceased by six sisters; Mary Gentilella, Josephine Allen, Julia DeMella, Anna Zanghetti, Carmine Harper and Rose Olsen and a brother Vito Delpriore. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London.  Family and friends are asked to gather for a memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 am in St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Rd. Waterford, CT. Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donation to Kenneth Roselund Scholarship Fund C/O Waterford High School, 20 Rope Ferry Rd. Waterford, CT 06385, Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St. Norwich, CT 06360 or Visiting Nurse Association-Southeastern, 403 N. Frontage Rd. Waterford, CT 06385.
