HUMPHREY: Louise Humphrey, of Groton went home to be with the Lord, on Friday April 9, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 1, 1954 in Sumter, SC the daughter of the late Clara Green and Hoppy Anderson. Ms. Humphrey was a long-time resident of New London, moving to Groton after her retirement. She was formerly employed by, Electric Boat for many years, before retiring from the Coast Guard Academy in 2020, where she worked for 33 years. She is survived by her five daughters, Gevasia General of Groton, Mecca Humphrey of New Haven, Aisha Simmons of NC, Latifah Humphrey of PA, Shaquawana Torres of New London and a son, Niheem Stokes of NY. A sister, Edna Green of NY, Her beloved children’s father, Niheem Humphry of NC. Two nephews, Now-Allah James of NY and Kalek James of WV. Thirteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Three son in-laws, Ronald General, Robert Torres, and Richard Simmons. A brother in-law, Desmond Lewis, three sister in-laws,Marion Nemley, Aqueelah Farrakhan, and Bobbie Nemley. A special grandson, Johnny Rodriguez, her special companion David Larke, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Louise was a loving person who enjoyed life, she was a lover of plants and had an infectious smile. She had a wonderful personality and loved to laugh; she had a way of making people smile even when they didn’t want to. Always the Life of the Party, she was very kindhearted, always having an open heart and arms to all. She was the Queen and wore her Crown Proudly, and will be sorely missed by all. Funeral services will be held on, Saturday, at 10 am in the Miracle Temple Church, 45 Board St. New London. Her family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior, to the service. Interment to follow in, Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with her care.
