Liberty Drury

August 9, 2001 - July 22, 2016

Liberty Starr Drury, 14, of Gales Ferry, entered eternal life on July 22, 2016.

She was born Aug. 9, 2001, in New London, the beloved daughter of Robert Drury Jr. of Gales Ferry and Brenda Cowdrey of Texas, and stepmother, Amanda Krueger.

Liberty attended Julia Long Elementary School in Gales Ferry and recently graduated with honors from Ledyard Middle School. She was a loving daughter and a gifted artist. Recently she received first place in Art on the Bank in Groton, working with water colors.

She is survived by siblings, Bruce Stewart, Barbara Stewart, Stephanos Stewart, Darius Strasel, Robert Drury III, Noah Drury; her paternal grandparents, Beverly and Robert Drury Sr. of Gales Ferry, and her maternal grandmother, Phyllis Chason of Florida.

A graveside service will be private. At 11 a.m. on Friday, there will be a celebration of her life at the firehouse in Gales Ferry that will be open to all.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 355 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with her care
