BROCCOLI: It is with sadness that we announce the passing of LeRoy Donald Broccoli, Jr. (Donnie) on Oct. 24, 2021 with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Donnie was born on Dec. 20, 1964 and was the beloved son of LeRoy Broccoli, Sr. and Anna (Secchiaroli) Hobin. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmom, Sandy Broccoli, with whom he shared a special bond. He is survived by three siblings; Henry (Jennifer), Vicki (Mike), Dino (Carrie) and Tina, and his uncle Louis Broccoli, several aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be especially missed by his aunt, Nancy Broccoli LoPresto. Donnie was compassionate, and kind and always willing to help anyone in need, especially his parents. He was extremely proud of his sobriety and was a member of the United Shoreline Area of Narcotics Anonymous (NA). He was gifted in speaking about his journey to sobriety at conventions and prisons, encouraging others to do the same. Even though Donnie would tell you he “wasn’t a professional gardener”, it was with great pride, and expertise that he planted dozens of flowers for his father and Sandy each spring and maintained them throughout the season. He worked tirelessly completing any task until it was perfect. He was a perfectionist in every sense of the word. Donnie was a member of the Italian Dramatic Club and Laborers Union Local 547. He worked on many construction projects during his career. Donnie will be missed for his kind demeanor and joy, he brought to his family. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble on Thursday at 9 am and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Donations in his memory to, Narcotics Anonymous World Service, PO Box 9999 Van Nuys, CA 91409.
