NEW LONDON – John J. Zaharevich, 83, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family.  Born in Meriden, son of the late Alexander and Nora (Pietras) Zaharevich, he lived in New London for many years.  John was a retired machinist with Electric Boat, retiring in 1987.  Previously he was a navy veteran with over 20 years of service.  He was a communicant of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church.  He leaves his wife of forty-nine, Theresa (Winski) Zaharevich, two sons, John Zaharevich and David Zaharevich both of Seattle, WA, four step-sons, James Woodhall, Robert Woodhall, Rickie Woodhall all of Groton, Ronald Woodhall of New London, a step-daughter, Theresa Woodhall Duross of New London, a sister, Rosalie Marcella of Windsor Locks, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Avenue.  The funeral will be Friday at 9am from the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home with a Mass in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church at 10. The burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
