James J. Paul, 80, of Groton, entered eternal life on Aug. 21, 2016, in the comfort of his loving family.

He was born June 22, 1936, in New London, the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Lasky) Paul. Mr. Paul was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving eight years until he was honorably discharged.

He was united in marriage to the former Annie Alger on Jan. 4, 1969, in St. Joseph Church; Mrs. Paul survives him.

Mr. Paul worked for the City of New London in the Water and Sewer Department, retiring after 35 years.

Besides his wife, Annie, of 47 years of marriage, he is also survived by two children, Joseph Paul of Groton and Shannon Imbriaco of East Lyme; five grandchildren, Chanel Paul, Chloe Reid, Lauren, Corey, and Tyler Imbriaco; 10 siblings, Edward, Frederick and Gary Paul, Vera Bellone, Betty Jean Watterson, Catherine Scacciaferro, Barbara Kronk, Doris Fonner, Linda Lemanski and Alice Stacey; and sister in-law, Barbara Paul.

He was predeceased by eight siblings, Frank, Charles, William, John, Joseph and Richard Paul, Eleanor Pryski and Josephine Paul.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd., 4B, Southington, CT 06489-1058.
