Hillary Rose McCurdy, 25, of Waterford, CT, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. Hillary was born May 13, 1991 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Hillary graduated from East Lyme High School in 2010.

 

Hillary is survived by her parents, Vince and Jane (Leathers) McCurdy, her brothers, Thomas and Patrick, her grandparents Mary (Enright) McCurdy of Johnston, RI and Thomas and Joan (Stone) Leathers of Elwood, IN.

 

Hillary is also survived by her aunts and uncles Edward Ginger, Patricia (Ted) Malo, Janet (Glenn) Ashman, Kathy (Eugene) Dennen, Timothy (Pennapa) Leathers, and Jeffrey (Debra) Leathers and cousins, Kim, Carrie, Joanna, Jessica, Michele, Christina, Shaun, Paul, Adrian, Rachel, and Sarah. Hillary was predeceased by her grandfather, Vincent McCurdy, and an aunt, Jeanette Ginger. Hillary also leaves behind many special friends including Anthony Diacri and Kaitlyn Schmidt, and her faithful canine companion, Tahoma.

 

Hillary was a fun-loving, full-living girl who was the light of her family’s life. Her days were a social whirl full of activities with her mom by her side. Some of the friends and groups Hillary especially loved were Best Buddies (ELHS and Conn College), Special Olympic teams (MI and CT), High Hopes, Pfizer cafeteria co-workers, Marshalls co-workers, Life Skills Class, Blissworks Yoga, the Brits Trivia Team, Groton Zumba Gold, and Hip Hop Dance Extension. Although Hillary’s light has moved on, we will continue to live her legacy that “Love Wins”.

 

A Celebration of Hillary’s Amazing Life will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Niantic Community Church, 170 Pennsylvania Avenue, Niantic. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home of New London, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be gifted to Special Olympics Connecticut (Mystic-Ledyard Bowling Team or the New London Swim Team), High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, or Canine Companions for Independence.
