George Cochrane, 84 of Waterford entered eternal life on Aug. 19, 2018. He was born June 24, 1934 in Walton, province of Nova Scotia, Canada the son of the late James and Avis (Rolfe) Cochrane. Moving to the US and settling in New London, George attended local schools and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. He was honorably discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married the former Marian Margaret Robbins on June 25, 1955 in England. After nearly 57 years of marriage, Marian predeceased him in 2012. Mr. Cochrane worked for the former SNET, retiring as a foreman after 38 years. He was a member of the Waterford VFW Post # 6573 and the Pioneer’s Club. He is survived by three siblings, and their spouses. Richard and Donna Cochrane of Niantic, JoAnna and Seth Wakeman of Stonington, Pat and John Nossek of Waterford. Numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Donna SanJuan. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A funeral home service with words of remembrance will be at 10 am on Thursday. Interment in Jordan Cemetery with military honors.
