THOMAS: Frederick “Big Fred” Tony Thomas, Sr. 70 of Salem, entered eternal life on Nov. 4, 2022. He was born Oct. 2, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Esther and William Copper, Sr. Mr. Thomas graduated from Overbrook High School in Phil. Studied at Southern Illinois University Carbondale while on active duty as a Hospital Corpsman E-5 in the US Navy. He also served in the US Marine Corp. igh School in PhilpHigh He later retired from the State of CT Dept. of Correction, retiring as a Lieutenant. He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Thomas. His children Freddy, Jr., Erica, Allen, Leslie, Garrett and Tee. His siblings, Elmira Boxley, William Copper, Jr., and Carlton Johnson, Sr., His grandchildren Patrick, Layana, Janeen, and Mya. His in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends will truly miss him. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday (Nov. 18) at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montaukl Ave., New London from 9:30 am followed by a prayer service at 10:30 am. Interment with military honors, in CT State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
