Frank Michael Draminski, artist, photographer and craftsman, passed away May 27, 2022. He was born in New London, Nov. 8, 1951, to Edmund Frances and Mary Arcangelo (Gambro) Draminski.
Frank attended Saint Joseph School and remained close to many of his classmates for the rest of his life. He graduated from New London High School in 1969. In May of 1971, he was detained in Washington D.C., for several days with his friend Mark and 13,000 other Americans for protesting the Vietnam War. He was drafted soon after that and served in the U.S. Army until 1974. For several years he worked with his friends, Ned and Paul, repairing fiberglass bath and shower units throughout Connecticut, and Rhode Island. He also worked at Millstone Nuclear Power Station as a member of the Painters Local 1122, as a painting foreman at Connecticut College, and as a painting contractor. His last job was refinishing pianos at Caruso Piano Gallery.
Frank was an amateur photographer and was known for taking and developing excellent pictures with his Pentax Spotmatic. He enjoyed creating and studying art. He used his veteran’s benefits to earn an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Mohegan Community College. His innate curiosity about the world around him was endearing. Frank was outgoing and liked to talk about the news, movies and places to visit. He made people smile and will be remembered with a smile.
Frank is survived by his brother Paul Draminski; his friend and former wife Joan Bucko; the Gambro and Greenman families; and his friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at St. Joseph Church, 37 Squire Street, New London. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
