LONGO: Frank Longo, Sr. 87 of Waterford entered eternal life on Dec. 20, 2016. He was born Aug. 24, 1929 in New London the son of the late Sabatino and Santa (Sylvester) Longo. He attended the former Chapman Technical High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1948. He later transferred to the United States Army; he was honorably discharged in 1955. He was united in marriage to the former Shirley Pasela on Oct 2, 1948 in St. Joseph Church. Frank worked for the Carpenters Union Local 30 & 24 for 62 years. He joined the Carmelite Order in 1963 and was professed in 1964. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Seaside Council #17, past president of the Holy Name Society in New London and the Norwich Diocesan. A member of the Order of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and a eucuristic minister. Frank is survived by his wife, Shirley of 68 years of marriage. Three children; Frank Longo, Jr., Lisa Sylvia and Andrew Longo. Eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Longo-Wiley. Six siblings, Nicholas, Salvatore and Santo Longo, Rosalie Shafer, Elizabeth Hall and Bernice Longo. The Longo family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice for all they did. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday (Dec. 27, 2016) from 6 to 8 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. The funeral will assemble on Wednesday at 9am and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
