Franco Cristofaro

Franco Cristofaro, 62, of Gales Ferry, CT, passed away on May 17, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born November 16, 1959, in Lapio, Italy, the son of the late Pasquale and Margherita Cristofaro.

Franco is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Cristofaro (Schoell) of 37 years; a son, Johnathan Cristofaro of New London; two daughters, Amy Cristofaro of New London and Suzanne Huang of Westerly; two grandsons, Noah George Huang and Connor Pasquale Huang both of Westerly; and three brothers Anthony Cristofaro of Hawaii, Michael Cristofaro of Waterford, and John Cristofaro of Waterford.

He is predeceased by his mother, Margherita Cristofaro (Russo); father, Pasquale Cristofaro; and sister Nicolena Cristofaro.

Franco was not handed success early in his life. He immigrated to New London in 1962 with his family where he began working at a young age, sometimes several jobs at once, in order to put himself through college and earn a degree. Franco then pursued his career at Eversource for 36 years, where he worked until the end of his life. He was an incredibly hard working, dedicated, and caring man, always working to ensure his family had the best life possible. Outside of work, he enjoyed gardening, refurbishing his home, and caring for his beloved grandchildren.

Franco was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Of all the titles he was given, being ‘Papa’ was his most cherished and favorite.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home of New London, 84 Montauk Ave, New London, CT. 

Donations in his memory may be made to The American Cancer Society or Be the Match Foundation to continue advancing CAR T Cell Therapy research.
