Evelyn Camorota

September 10, 1923 - October 25, 2017

Evelyn Loretta Sproul Camarota began her life on a farm in Dover, New Hampshire on September 10, 1923 and passed away on October 25, 2017 at Chestelm Health and Rehab in East Haddam, CT. She was the youngest of nine children born to Emma Green Ingersol and Charles Gilbert Sproul of Maine and New Hampshire and the last surviving offspring. Evelyn came to CT when she was 18 years old . She earned a degree in accounting from the New London School of Business. She worked in the office of the Central Vermont Railroad to put herself through school and upon graduating worked for two prominent New London automotive dealerships as an accountant and office manager. She was active in several women’s clubs over the years including the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the YWCA where she held the office of President. When she moved to Niantic in 1951 , Evelyn joined the congregation of the Niantic Community Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. An avid and competitive bridge player, she was a master in both Duplicate and Contract bridge. On May 19, 1951 she married Ralph L. Camarota in New London. HE predeceased her on October 30, 1987. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Beverly and son-in-law, John W.  Bauer of East Lyme, CT.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Union Cemetery, Niantic, CT. Donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Wounded Warrior’s Project or a charity of donors choice. The Impelliteri-Malia Funeral Home , 84 Montauk Ave of New London, CT has been entrusted with her care.
