On Saturday November 3rd, 2018, Ernest Joseph Litty (Ernie) formerly of Severna Park, Maryland and later Naples, Florida loving husband and father of four children left this earth at the age of 96. Ernest was predeceased by his son Christian Herbert and wife Suzanne Lentz Litty. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Luzi, of Waterford, Connecticut, his sister Roses Collins of California, three children, Ernest J. Litty, Jr. (Ginny) of Vero Beach, FL, Donna L. Benefiel, (Kirk) of Severna Park, MD and Michael B. Litty of Florida, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Ernie was born and raised in Brainerd, Nebraska on June 21st 1922. After high school, he joined the Navy and was recruited to attend the Naval Academy, where he played basketball and lacrosse and was eventually inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame.   Upon graduation in 1945, he married Dorothy Suzanne Lentz of Severna Park, MD and he was commissioned as the Captain of a minesweeper in the South Pacific. They made their home and raised their family in Severna Park. After his career in the Navy, he went to work for a general contracting firm in Baltimore, Maryland, which he subsequently bought and ran for many years. Ernie was an avid golfer, being one of the original “lifetime” members of Chartwell Golf and County Club in Severna Park and in Naples Florida he was a member of Imperial Golf Club where he played well into his 90’s. He also enjoyed fishing both in the Chesapeake Bay and in the Gulf of Mexico when he retired to Naples Florida. In March of 2012 he married Carolyn Luzi and traveled to Connecticut in the summer and Naples in the winter. Ernest was a great role model for his children and grandchildren.

I would like to thank the staff of Atrinity Healthcare especially Maureen Murray who would go above and beyond to care for Ernie while he was home. Donations can be made in his memory to a Veterans program of your choice.

A memorial service will be held at the discretion of the family.
