LUTZ: Elizabeth Marie Capozza Lutz, of Ledyard, entered eternal life on Sept. 9, 2018 after a long and spirited life of 100 years old. She was born Jan. 11, 1918 at her family home at Pleasure Beach in Waterford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Carino) Capozza. She graduated from the former Williams Memorial Institute in New London, class of 1936. She was united in marriage to, Claude A. Lutz, Sr., on Oct. 1, 1942 in St. Joseph Church in New London. Her husband died on March 6, 1994. She was also predeceased by her oldest child, and beloved daughter, Claudia Marie St. Amour. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Lee Lutz and Bob Clark of Uncasville, daughter, Elizabeth Marie Lutz of Norwich, son, Claude A. Lutz, Jr. of Uncasville. A grandson, James Bruce Noyes, granddaughters, Elizabeth and Chris Rider, Wendy and Will Fournier. Five great grandsons, Collin Rider, Nathan, Owen, Ryan and Jackson Fournier. A great granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Rider. Elizabeth is survived by three siblings, Rocco and wife Carmela Capozza, Diamond Porlidis and Joan Roselund. She was predeceased by seven sister, Mary Gentilella, Josephine Allen, Julia DiMella, Anna Zanghetti, Carmen Harper, Rose Olsen and Lucy Fergione and one brother, Vito Delpriore. She was a secretary for Latham School of Dance for 10 years, and also worked at Fusconi Cleaners for 10 years. Elizabeth and her husband Claude opened Claudio’s Cleaners and Formal Shop in Westerly, RI in 1971. Elizabeth was an avid Red Sox fan for many years. She enjoyed cooking, and was known for constantly feeding everyone who came to her home. She was a, 50 year breast cancer survivor and said the Rosary daily for each of her four children. Many thanks to the nurses and CNA’s who took care of her while she lived at Greentree Manor in Waterford, and for everyone who took care of her at L&M Hospital. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. Family and friends, are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St. New London. Interment to follow in, Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenneth Roselund Scholarship Fund, C/O Waterford High School, 20 rope Ferry Rd.
