Edward Joseph Tuneski, 97 of Niantic and formerly of New London entered eternal life Oct. 28, 2022, in the company of his loving family. He was born Dec. 26, 1924 in New London the son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Barcz) Tuneski.

A lifelong resident of New London, he attended local schools, graduating from former Bulkeley School class of 1943. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later honorably discharged. He married the love of his life the former Corinne “Renie” Lecky, on April 23, 1949, in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. After 64 years of devotion, Renie died March 23, 2013. Mr. Tuneski worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a devote Roman Catholic, and a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He was proud of all his grandchildren and enjoyed attending any of their events.

Survived by three children and their spouses: Glenn (Elaine) Tuneski of New Britain, Michael (Maria) Tuneski of Waterford, Catherine (Christopher) Topper of Southington; eight grandchildren: Laura Buck, Benjamin, Shannon, Andrew and Alexander Tuneski, Curtis, Emma and Daniel Topper; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five siblings: Stephen and William Tuneski, Alice Klicas, Helen Ballestrini and Pauline Duggan.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 63 Old Norwich Rd., Quaker Hill. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.Edwar
