LABASI: Edward “Eddie” Charles Labasi entered eternal life on February 27th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born to Augustive and Eileen Labasi on September 27th, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY; he was the second of five children. The Labasi’s moved to Connecticut in 1964, where he graduated from New London High School. He went to work at the London Subbase where he met the love of his life, Debbie (Jennings) Labasi, whom he married in May of 1979. Eddie became a father in 1991 and would soon learn what unconditional love meant when he held his daughter Angelina Rose Labasi, for the first time. In Eddie’s final years of life, he took on the name of Papa to two beloved grandchildren, Lacey and Michael “Mikey” Musngi III.

Eddie was an accomplished employee of the Civil Service at the New London Subbase for 45 years after which he retired. After his retirement, Eddie took on the primary role of Papa where he spent as much time with his grandchildren as he could. In addition to his accomplishments, Eddie took great pride in his love of both fishing and the New York Giants. One of his proudest moments was when he got the chance to meet the Great Lawrence Taylor (Giants player 56).

Eddie will be remembered most for his love of family, friends, dogs and cooking. Eddie was predeceased by both Augustive and Eileen Labasi and leaves behind wife, Debbie Labasi, Daughter Angelina Rose Labasi (Michael Musngi Jr), Brother Augustive “Gus” Labasi(Connie) and Sisters Valerie Cordock(Jim). Teresa Hamilton (Michael Chance), Veronica Garey (Al) and grandchildren Lacey and Mikey Musngi III, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and an abundance of very special friends.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday March 3rd 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home 84 Montauk Ave New London, Ct Friday March 4th 2022 a 11 am Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church 149 Montauk Ave New London, Ct., followed by interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Eddies family asks that donations be made to the Ct Humane Society at 169 Old Colchester Road Waterford, Ct 06385
