BELEC: Dorothy Rita Belec, 92 of Waterford entered eternal life on July 14, 2017 in the comfort of her loving family.  She was born June 14, 1925 in Providence, RI the daughter of the late Francis and Emily (Gallant) Cavanaugh.  She was, united in marriage to Paul W. Belec, on June 16, 1945 in Johnston, RI.  Mr. Belec, died Dec. 23, 2004.  Mrs. Belec, worked at William R. Hannaford & Company for many years and most recently Hannaford & Heap.  A communicant of St. Joseph Parish in New London. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Hannaford of Waterford.  Her, sister, Virginia Cavanaugh of Johnston, RI. Her three grandchildren, William R. Hannaford, Jr., Stacey Flynn and Tara Hannaford.  Six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Elizabeth, Catherine, Sean Jr., Timothy and Kaitlin.  She was predeceased by a brother, James Cavanaugh and her twin sister, Gertrude Cavanaugh and her son in-law, William R. Hannaford, Sr.   Family and friends are asked to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 am from St. Joseph Church, Montauk Ave.  New London.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  There are no public calling hours.
