New London – Diana Lynn “Punky” (Williams) Battista passed away unexpectedly April 3, 2023. Diana was born Aug. 13, 1954 in Milford, to the loving parents, Kenneth and Rose (Salcito) Williams (†).

She graduated from Jonathan Law High School in 1972, and attended Three Rivers Community College for nursing. She became a resident of Southeastern Connecticut when she relocated in 1993.

Diana started her management career at Alexander Department Store in Milford, where she served as a money room supervisor before the store closed in 1988. She then worked 24 years at Stop and Shop as an assistant customer service manager. Diana loved going to work everyday; her customers became family.

Diana is survived by her three sons, Michael and fiancée Rachael of Waterford; Mark and fiancée Ashley of Ledyard, and Nicholas and his wife Megan of Uncasville; seven grandchildren: Morgan, Ariana, Camryn, Oliva, Jaxson, Benjamin, and Adam. Diana is also survived by her two brothers, Tom (Deb) Williams and Kenneth (Joan) Williams; and sister Geri (Al) Brown. Diana loved her sons and grandchildren with all of her heart. She enjoyed playing rummy and going to bingo with her sons.

Her family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, will be celebrated at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at Chesterfield Fire Department, 1606 Hartford-New London Turnpike, Oakdale, immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Safe Futures in New London.
